A much needed update

Well, I realize it has been a while since I actually updated my blog with pictures and happenings of "The Honea Home" so I decided tonight was time. I've been drowning in JBF stuff, doing the whole 'VIP Tagging' thing. You might remember me mentioning it in this post. After all this, I'm not sure it will be worth just 15% (the profit I make on the stuff I tag). We will have to see how big my check is. It's more work than I thought it would be!

At the end of February, the girl's class took a field trip to the fairgrounds at the Stock Show and Rodeo. It's not my favorite cup of tea, but I do enjoy parts of it and of course, the kids love it! Here are some pictures from the trip!

Someone please explain to me the anatomy of a camel's leg.

Sister helping Brother pet the lamb...(like he needed the help, but she's a little mama)

We went to the final rodeo performance Saturday night (Feb 28th) and it was fun! All except for the horse, the male horse I might add, at the very beginning peeing during the prayer...seriously? I've never seen a horse pee. Now if you have, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Holy. Cow. And all the lights were out in the house except for a spotlight on that horse. A sight I don't ever want to see again! Anyway. We had a bunch of friends and family go with us.
My grandmother took this picture of the girl at the rodeo... (let me preface this story by telling you that is drives my Gigi crazy to see pants twisted. When we were in the Philippines, we used to send home videos to them and my dad would twist our pants, and so when Gigi would watch them, she would just about go crazy. And I used to do it to my kids when they were younger and it would irritate her so bad.)
and emailed it to me yesterday, saying, "Look at this often and you can feel like I do when I see the kids shorts twisted!!!" You know how I feel about messes. And sticky cotton candy fingers are not my friend. I will be honest and say that I had a little 'freak out' session about it, too. Because I didn't have a wipe to clean them. And we were sitting in the middle of a row, so there was no getting up and going to the bathroom just to wash our hands. This was at the beginning, mind you. Definitely was not taking a trip to the bathroom right after we just sat down. Thank goodness the boy scout troops were handing out bandanas as we walked in, so I doused one of those with water from my water bottle and wiped her hands when she was finished. I chilled out after her hands were clean and enjoyed myself; don't worry. Just remember when we dyed Easter Eggs last Easter. Oh dear. It's coming soon. I've got to get myself prepared. I'm going to try to make it fun this year. Really, I am. I really, really want to. I've gotten better about being a fun mom and I need to keep it up. Even with messes.

Speaking of being a fun mom, the girl LOVES to paint her fingernails and toenails. And I just hate doing it. Again...it's a mess. But she had been begging me to for several days, so I did it. And the joy on her face was so worth it! We painted her fingernails pink. Then for her toenails, she wanted one foot orange and the other foot pink. And someone else wanted their's painted too, so I obliged. Even if he isn't a girl. Please tell me someone else has painted their son's toes. Please.
Last week was Dr. Seuss week at the kids' school. They ate green eggs and ham one day. The girl loved them, but the boy's teachers said he wouldn't even touch them. Haha! On Wednesday, the girl had "Wacky Wednesday" and she wanted me to take a picture of her to "put on the blog." So here it is!
I know this is already really long, but would you please pray for my sisters, Anna, Emily and Erin. Today is Anna and Stephen's 3rd Anniversary. Happy Anniversary!!! I am so thankful that they live here and are just good friends to Jim and I. And I am also very thankful that Anna has a wonderful and respectful man to take care of her and love the way a husband should love their wife.

Em and her husband Derek are in Ireland right now (it's her Spring Break) just for vacation, so just pray for protection and safety and a relaxing time for them. It is a much needed get-away for them!

And for Erin and her family. They are trying to get moved back down here. And as you may have read here, Chaz passed the physical agility firefighters test and has mailed in his 60-page application. Hopefully he will hear back soon after they do a background check and he will be called for an interview (or whatever the next step is). In the mean time, he has applied for an apartment maintenance job here in town, just so they can get moved down here. They met with their realtor the other night to put their house in OK City on the market only to find out that their roof needs replacing. But not only that, it needed replacing before they even bought the house. Their realtor that sold it to them should've got it on the inspection report. Their insurance agent doesn't even cover the type of roof they have (but has been covering it since they bought the house because they didn't catch it). So they had a roofing company come look at it in hopes that maybe there is some hail damage and insurance will cover a new roof because of the damage; if not, they have to put a new roof on before they sell it. And the roofing company came today and said that it would cost $11,000, because it is wood over composite or something like that. There is some minor hail damage and so the insurance agent is going to have to come take a look at it to see if he would be willing to cover a new roof because of it. Please, please pray that the insurance agent sees that it needs to be replaced and insurance would cover one for them. And just pray for Erin. There has been a lot going on in their lives that would normally cause her to worry and stress, but her faith has not diminished one bit. She is relying on the Lord for strength daily and I am so proud of her. She has posted Scripture after Scripture on her facebook status. And the Word of God is living and active and is able to sustain us even in times of trial and I know that it is the only thing getting her through. I just pray God's blessings over her and her family so often because of the faith and trust that she has in her God. I admire her for the way she is handling all of it and it just makes me want to be a better, more godly woman because of her testimony she is living out daily. I love you, Erin, and I am so proud of the woman, wife, mother, and sister that you are. And I just pray God's blessings over you, over the babies, and over Chaz. And I pray for protection and health, too. Love you, baby sis.

ok...cried my eyes out reading the last of your blog (like I need to cry anymore nowadays). I feel like I'm not handling any of my life well at all and my faith is so tiny right now, but I'm so thankful for mom and dad and my big sisters for yall's encouragment and prayer. just knowing i'll be close to y'all soon is enough to keep me hanging on. love you!

Lots of catching up. I hope your check is HUGE...maybe you will be blown away by the reward of your hard work. The girl's hair is awesome and yes, I have painted my boys toenails. No harm done. A few stares, but no harm :)

Great post!! I laughed at your story of the horse taking "center stage" at the rodeo--oh boy! And loved your girl's wacky Weds. get-up -- too cute! Yes, I HAVE painted boy's toes before :)

Your support of your sister's - your encouragement for each other -- is very sweet and touching to me. I'm an only child and have spent much of my life not fully understanding that sibling bond but knowing that I'm missing something special. So neat to watch it vicariously. My kids are close to each other and I'm always encouraged to see that closeness in other siblings.

What a sweet post! You are blessed with 3 wonderful sisters and I love everything that you said about Erin. She's such a sweetheart - I am definitely praying for her!

And you did a great job with "the girls" wacky day at school. She looks precious! Way to go being a fun mom!
