A Sunburn?

Yep, a sunburn. On my shoulders. We met a friend of mine from the health club and her little boy at a school playground today around lunch time. I was wearing my workout clothes, so my shirt was sleevless. My shoulders are very red, needless to say. I can't even wear my normal bra because the straps rub the burn. Ouch! (I am wearing a sports bra though!) I don't know how it happened...I didn't even feel hot. Ugh, so annoying. I already have an 80% chance of getting skin cancer because I've been burned to blisters twice in my life (on my shoulders). Living in the Philippines so close to the equator, the UV Index is crazy high. Each time you burn to blisters like I did, it increases your risk of skin cancer by 40%, so two burns equals 80% chance. Yes, wonderful. I know.

And so, since it's not even summer yet and I already have burned shoulders, I need to just start carrying sunscreen in my car. But I hate to use it because it is so greasy. So...I'm asking for your input. What kind of sunscreen do you use and why? Is it really greasy? Do you have any sunscreen that smells good (not like the swimming pool)?

Sunburns are NO fun! Wow...I can't believe you were sunburned that bad in the Philippines. We better watch out too! I was worried about Kaitlyn getting sunburned here in Singapore, but I found SPF 130 for her! Maybe you can try that. HA!

I was thinking the same thing today, time to put the sunscreen in the car.
I don't know what we use. I'll have to look and get back to you :)

Hi Ashley. So sorry about your sunburn - looks painful! You should use some after-burn gel to help soothe your skin. As for sunblock, I really like neutrogena's line. It's called dry touch sunblock or something like that. It has a scent but it's not strong at all, and it is definitely non-greasy. You should try it out. Good luck!

Phillip likes the spray on sunscreen because it is not greasy (sport version). Research has said that anything over SPF 30 really only nets a higher price. You still need to put it on every 30 minutes to work effectively.
