Veteran's Day and Gigi

Today I am very, very thankful for all the men and women who have served our country in the military. I think it is important to set aside a day such as today to help us focus attention on and honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. It is important to reflect on the service and sacrifice of our veterans. So today I am thankful and honoring those who have served our country. Thank you!

Steven Curtis Chapman had the opportunity ti visit the Bethesda Naval Medical Center a few days ago. He met a man named Corpsman Thomas McBride who had been wounded in action in Afghanistan and lost part of his leg. SCC was deeply moved by this man's sacrifice and has written a new song, "Thomas McBride". You can click here to link to the free streaming audio available now through November 15th only. It's a beautiful song.

Today is also a day that I am thankful for my grandmother. It is Gigi's birthday today! Happy Birthday, Geeg! She is woman who loves the Lord with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength; a prayer warrior like no other. She loves her husband in a way that has made me want to love Jim more. She loves her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids so unconditionally it amazes me.

"Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies. Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: 'There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!'" (Proverbs 31:10-12, 28-29)

I love you, Gigi, and I am SO thankful for you!

I am so overwhelmed at the many greetings I have had on my b'day. This one humbles me completely! I can not find words to thank all of you. I have the best kids, grandkids, and great grandkids anyone could have. Ash, thank you. I am lifted each time I read your blog and am so honored to be featured in it. I feel unworthy of it but I'm so touched. Love, Gigi
