9/11

I know we all remember where we were and what we were doing that terrifying morning of September 11th. I was on my way to class in college when I heard it happen live on the radio. When I got to class, our professor dismissed us and told us to go sit in front a TV and say a prayer. So that's what I did. With tears in my eyes and an ache in my heart that I cannot describe, I sat and watched. May be never forget to pay tribute to those who risked their lives to save others that day. And may we never forget to pray for the families who lost loved ones that day.

So where were you on that horrific day? What do you remember about that day?

I too was in college. I was also a nursery worker for my church and was with a group of toddlers and the other women I worked with on that Tuesday morning. We were there for the Ladies Bible study. I remember one of the girls I worked with saying something about hearing that one of the twin towers had possibly been hit by a plane. After I left, I turned the radio on in my car as I drove home to hear what was going on. Once home I tuned into the TV. And like every other American that day, I was glued to the TV and could not stop watching. I think I watched from noon to midnight that day.

That day will forever be etched in my memory.

I was teaching fifth grade...on my conference period...when my friend Lana came in and told us the news. She is always playing jokes on us, and I told her that was a sick joke! Then I realized by the look on her face that she was telling the truth!

I was in 9th grade Spanish class with Mrs. Ortega at Lee Jr. High. I didn't really get the hype then because I had honestly never heard of the twin towers and didn't know of their importance. The older I get the more significant it becomes.

I leaned on your Mom for comfort that terrible day. She and I had just taken our kids to their specials (music, art, P.E.). We had adjoining classrooms at Travis Elementary and watched the second tower as it was hit by the plane and then watched both towers collapse. I'll never forget that moment in her classroom.
