It has been another 'blah' week. Both of the kids have been sick. The boy started running on Saturday. It just hit it hard all of a sudden. We went to my nephew's soccer game and then to Jim's cousin's volleyball game. While at the volleyball game, he was playing and everything and then just all of a sudden, he crawled up in Jim's lap and looked terrible. I thought maybe because it was just 2:00 and it was his nap time. When we were leaving, though, he felt really hot. By the time we got home, his temp was over 103. Poor baby. He ran fever all weekend. I took him to the doctor on Monday and he tested positive for Strep. We started antibiotics and he is feeling much better!
The girl started running fever Tuesday night. It hit her just as quick. She went to school that day, played all afternoon, we played that evening. Then after her bath, she had the chills and was just freezing. Then I though, I wonder if you have fever. Checked it...102. So I took her to the doctor Wednesday morning and her strep test was negative but her throat looked bad. Dr. Acton said it was probably negative because it was too early in the game. He put her on antibiotics and is treating it as Strep, too, since the boy's was positive. She has missed three days of school this week and she is not happy. Yesterday, she was feeling much better and did not run fever all day, so I thought she would be able to go to school today. Well, in the late afternoon, she began crying about her head hurting. So I gave her some Tylenol and told her to lay down on the couch. She was still crying about her head hurting, so I gave her an ice pack and felt of her head. Sure enough...101.3. Ugh! What the heck! She was so upset. Bless her heart. Today at school, they were supposed to bring their teddy bear and they were going to do something special with them. She was very upset that she had to miss that and treasure chest drawing (that they do every Friday). Poor thing. Since she missed all of that, I told her we would do something special today with bears. We made sugar cookies (and the dough is chilling in the refrigerator right now) and sun catchers. I got the suncatcher idea from
Michelle at Her Cup Overfloweth. The kids loved doing it and it was really easy. And I think they turned out pretty cute!

By the way, I am doing a very awesome Bible Study right now at church. It's called Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed: A Study of David by Priscilla Shirer, Beth Moore, and Kay Arthur. It is amazing. I am learning a lot and now if I can just apply it and allow the Lord to change my heart and mind on some things in my life. Lord, give me the desire to change. Are any of you as stubborn as I am...it's like what Paul said in Romans 7:15-20.
"For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate. But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good. So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me."
But praise be to God, who has given me victory over sin through his Jesus Christ. I am working on it!
Jim and I put the kids down at mom and dad's last night and went to the 10:00 showing of Fireproof. We was very impressed and it really made us want to work on our good marriage and make it even better. We decided to go last night because a ministry here in town called Winning Families bought 300 tickets to give to our local firefighters. How awesome is that? So we thought it would be too crowded this weekend. The movie gives a realistic version of marriage and offers hope to couples who may think they have none. It is very good, and Jim and I both loved it!
