Pop and Gigi's House

We left Tuesday to go visit my grandparents, Pop and Gigi. Wednesday was Pop's 75th birthday so we celebrated! The kids baked a cake for him and decorated it with icing and sprinkles.

My sister Emily drove over for the day on Wednesday to help us celebrate! It was good to see her! I miss her so much!

While I was blow-drying my hair this morning, the boy got into some make-up. When I have to stop in the middle of blow-drying my hair, I am not happy. The girl came in and told me that he was putting make-up on. When my mom, Gigi, and I walked in, they busted out laughing, but me, the disciplinarian mother that I am, scolded him, wiped his face clean, and told him that I hoped my hair would still dry okay since I had to stop. Well, as I finished blow-drying my hair, I got to thinking. (I think about a lot of stuff while I blow-dry my hair. God and I have a lot of conversations during that time!) I should've taken a picture of him, for pete's sake! I got upset with myself for getting so upset at something that was funny and cute. Everyone has a picture of them as a kid with make-up on. I need to become a more fun mom! (Jim tells me that a lot - I need to just let loose. I'm too uptight!) Anyway, so we told the boy to show us exactly what he did with the make-up so I could take a picture. I know, terrible. Here is what he looked like, and to be honest, this is about all that he had on when we found him the first time.

My kids LOVE going to Pop and Gigi's house, just like I did; and stil do! They rule the roost when we go! Gigi lets them do just about anything. She pretty much feeds them and takes care of them, so it's really nice for me! I played on the computer a lot and slept! It's kind of like a vacation for me. It was a fun time!

I love it! And I bet you're more fun than you give yourself credit for.

I am the one who is spoiled! Spoiled by fun-loving great-grandkids who love you no matter what just like my grandkids such as Ashley do. Gi Gi

I think he looks mighty cute!
I painted my boys toenails a few days ago. He wanted them painted while I was painting mine and my first reaction was 'NO!' Then I thought, what does it hurt? He likes it and he's 2...not a big deal. Plus, I figured if he could sit still long enough that would be an accomplishment. -I can easily get uptight too if I'm not careful.-

I'm so glad you had him "show you how he did it" and got a picture. I have one of Tucker with his toenails (and half his foot) painted red when he got into my nail polish. It's one of my favorites. I'm going to use it someday as leverage when he starts dating. :)
It's taken me a LONG time to learn to loosen up and I'm still working on it daily. My new rule of thumb is "will this matter in 10 years from now?"--if not, then laugh and go on. I find most stuff that used to frustrate me now can make me laugh. It's hard I know.

You totally look like a fun mom. I think every mom thinks she should be more fun.

How hillarious you staged another shot at the makeup picture.
