LASIK and birthday

Jim and I drove to Dallas Thursday evening. He got LASIK yesterday morning. The kids stayed with my parents Thursday night and Mom kept them all day yesterday until we got back. Y'all, they let me take pictures and watch and it was the coolest thing! There is a window with some chairs behind for you to watch. It was amazing! *Warning, this might make your eyes water (Emily!). They gave him some valium to relieve the anxiety, but it didn't really affect him all that much. He's a horse when it comes to medicine. Nothing really fazes him.

Jim finally let me take a picture of him (with his phone, not the big camera, hence the quality) in the waiting room to "document" the whole thing.

In the exam room

4 different eyedrops are in, including a numbing drop and his eyes have been clean around them with iodine. I really should've gotten a picture of that! He had some burnt orange racoon eyes, but she wipe it all of!

A terrible picture of both of us

Jim's eyeball on the computer screen. Isn't it crazy!

Cutting a flap of corneal tissue to peel back.

See the corneal tissue laying over of the bottom of the screen?

See the laser?

The flap is repositioned and he's smoothing it out with some instrument - looked like the end of a pencil to me.

I know this picture is blurry but it's the only one I got of him laying back in the chair. They were actually sitting him up.

The valium just kicked in and he's a little goofy. Not bad, though.

New eyes!
The procedure was amazing! It's so crazy that they can do things like this. He slept most of the way home yesterday and was quite uncomfortable. He still hasn't woken up this morning so I'm not sure how he's feeling. He was already seeing almost 20/20 yesterday. Amazing! He is going to love it!
Even though it was the girl's birthday yesterday and both her daddy and mama were away, her Lola made it very special for her. They made a cake with sprinkles and she had a birthday bag for both of them with candy in them. When we got back that afternoon, Jim went to sleep and the kids, Mom, and I went for a snowcone. Mom also planned a birthday dinner for the girl, so it was a special day for her! We are having her party today at a gymnastics place here in town. They do an hour of gymnastics with the kids, then we have 30 minutes to eat cupcakes and open presents. She is so excited about it. There will be pictures coming soon!

The girl with all her presents

Aunt Erin mailed her a gift...a Princess Memory game and a work booklet that she was SO excited about! Thank you, Erin.

Aunt Anna bought her a ballerina jewelry box. She had told Anna that was what she wanted. Anna found one that winds up and plays music as the ballerina turns.

She LOVES it!

We got her a new bike since she has kind of outgrown hers. She was so excited!

Here's a video of her opening her scooter from my parents.

Thanks, Mom, for throwing a little family party for her. You are such a wonderful Lola! I couldn't have done it being out of town all day. I love you, Mom!

I cannot believe you could even watch that! I am so weird about my eye balls, I couldn't even look at the pictures! Collin thought it was cool, though :) Hope Jim has perfect vision today and is feeling good. And it looks like little girl Honea had a great birthday!

Wow! I'm jealous! I want that procedure done too but I'm kinda scared it will mess up and I'll be worse off than I am now--I'm a BIG chicken. Valium doesn't work too well on me either--I think I get sooo anxious it can't kick in and relax me. It always hits me AFTERWARDS and then I get goofy. :) I'll have to talk to Jim about how it was.
I can't believe your sweet baby girl is FIVE! She was like 5 MONTHS old when I met you. Time flies. Looks like she had a great birthday. I remember having a jewelry box just like that when I was little.
Talk to ya soon

So sorry I missed her big day :( I even have it marked on my calender, but have been out of town for a week. Hope it was wonderful (looks like it was!).
