Plantar Fasciitis...

...is what they call it. My right heel has been hurting so bad the last 2 weeks. I couldn't put any weight on it. I finally called my sister who is a nurse at an urgent care clinic here (and the doctor just so happens to be her father-in-law) and I got in to see him. They took some x-rays to make sure there weren't any bone spurs or some arthritis. Thank goodness, there wasn't, it's just plantar fasciitis. It is the inflammation of the planta fascia that runs from the heel along the arch of the foot. I am very, VERY flat-footed and so I am more likely to get this than someone with normal arches. He prescribed some anti-inflammatory drugs (that have helped tremendously) and told me to get some heel pads for my shoes. And flip-flops are not good for this (in fact, I read on the internet that some podiatrists call this "flip-flop disease"), so I have to wear tennis shoes for ten days with the heel pads in my shoes. I must admit that it does feel better than wearing flip-flops. But it's just such a pain to put tennis shoes on; flip-flops are much quicker and easier. O'well!

This week is already going by SO slowly. My sister from OKC is coming down on Saturday with her son and NEW baby and I am SO excited! She will get to stay for a whole week! And I will be taking a ton of pictures so look for those next week!

Our weekend was pretty relaxing. We went to the pool Saturday morning and the back of my legs got sunburned. : ( They are beginning to feel better and aren't as red, but it hurt! Last night, my sister Anna and her husband came over to play a new game they've found called Blockus (sp?!). It is so fun! Very mind-challenging!

I feel like there is more to say, but nothing is coming to my mind right now.

I hope your heel gets better soon! I know how you feel...flip flops are so great! No socks, so easy!

I love your profile...a good fire, and coffee with milk & sugar. I'm the same way!

I have that same thing. Mine isn't that bad and I still wear flip flops 9 months out of the year, but I feel your pain. At least you got in to see someone fast.

So glad to hear that Erin is coming into town! That will be wonderful :)

I have gotten injections in my feet and it fixes it for about 6-8 monthes and then I can wear anything I want. I also got custom orthotics and it is great. Have a great week.
