What on earth?

Remember my friend Sherry who had a baby, and just a few days later, her sister, Amy, found themselves in a terrible crisis concerning their baby Simon; then just a couple of days later, Sherry's best friend's baby, Lilly, passed away in her sleep.

I just read Sherry's blog tonight and found that another couple in their Sunday School group, Joel and Joylynn Marlowe's baby Jacob passed away. So that is two couples in their group who are grieving the loss of a baby. Can you believe it? I don't understand. I don't get it. What on earth?

The Lord gave me in my Bible Study the other day Deuteronomy 29:29. It says, "The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law."

There are some secrets God has chosen not to reveal to us, such as the death of a baby, cancer, terror, and natural disasters. Maybe because our minds are finite and cannot fully understand the infinite aspects of God. Some things are unnecessary for us to know this side of Heaven. God is infinite and all-knowing, and we do not have the capacity to know everything he does.

God is sovereign and He could stop any ill. But how do we here on earth make those ends meet when we go through loss like these brothers and sisters in Christ? We can't...but God can and one day will. Beth Moore says in her study, I quote, "Between His arms that seem at times outstretched in opposite directions, you will find His heart. Out of the ashes of the unfathomable, sooner than later our Lazarus-faith must rise from the dead - questions still unanswered - or the devil has won."

Beth quotes an eleventh-century English monk, saying, "I do not seek, O Lord, to penetrate thy depths. I by no means think my intellect equal to them: but I long to understand in some degree they truth, which my heart believes and loves. For I do not seek to understand that I may believe, but I believe, that I may understand."

Please lift this family and the ones around them to the Savior. Our Comforter. Lord, we do not understand these things, but we recognize your sovereignty in all things. Protect them the peace that passes all understanding, surround them with Your mercy that's new every morning, and embrace them with Your love that knows no end. Amen.

OH I know............I have heard so many stories like this recently. We have had a couple in our church also. I can't imagine the pain these parents feel. I didn't mention this on my blog but I was thinking it. I told Angie Smith that this mother's day I would especially be thinking of her.
