I have mentioned several times on this blog about how I need to loosen up and be a more fun mom. Let my kids do crazy things. Maybe even be crazy myself. I get stressed out too easily when there’s a mess, such as paint or play-doh. I really wish I could just be a more fun mom.
Yesterday morning, I dropped some clothes off at my friend’s house for her girls to go through. I’ve gone through my closets and all my sisters have gone through them and there was still some that I needed to get rid of. Lorraine has two, beautiful I might add, girls that are about 15 years younger than me but about my size. Actually, one is taller than me, but she’s still skinny. When I pulled up, there was toilet paper all on the ground. They had been papered. When I asked her about it, she said it was payback.
She had driven her daughter and friends to paper someone else’s house at 1:00 in the morning! What a cool mom! That’s what I want to be. I want to be that cool and fun mom that will do things like that with her kids and friends. Lorraine was even laughing about it and talking about how much fun it was. She rocks!
Jim and I have always said, even before we had kids, that we wanted to be those cool (but still strict) parents. We want our children’s’ friends to hang out at our house. (Just because I want them to be in a place that I know is safe and there is some parental supervision.) We want to have a game room where they can hang out. I will make snacks for them and have soft drinks for them. Of course, this is all when they are older.
Lorraine has inspired me to try to become a more fun mom. I know it all starts now when they are younger to develop that friendship relationship with them also. Yes, I know I must still be the mother and have boundaries, but I want to be a friend they can count on to have fun with. So if any of you fun mamas have some good ideas, tell me! PLEASE!!! Give me some ways to become less stressed and more laid back!

Sweetie..you are too hard on yourself. I observe you day in and day out being a FUN MAMA! I can see the kids both wanting their friends to come to you house when they are older (even now!) You and Jim are both awesome parents!
Oh the many hours I spent with Sarah & Derek Papering houses! Sarah wanted to tie bows using the toilet paper on the bushes while Derek has his own "creative way" that took tons of paper! I wouldn't trade those days for anything and I can definately see you and Jim driving them around with your lights out and chunking those rolls out the window to them...Fun times ahead. What a wonderful, Godly mother you are...Your kids are blessed by you.
Oh the fun times we had driving Derek & Sarah around papering house after house...Sarah wanted to tie bows arounds the bushes while Derek had more creative things to do to the house. We had a blast and I can see you and Jim driving the kiddos around with your lights out chunking roll after roll as quick as you can before the dogs wake their owner up! Fun times that I will cherish forever and we still talk about them often. Ashley, you are a wonderful christian mother and your children are truly blessed to call you their Mom.

Ashley we both have plenty of time to become the "fun mama" I know exactly where you are coming from. My mom took us "wrapping" when we were younger and I can only pray that I am just like her! Let's research ideas and share!
I want this, too.
We can do it!!!
