In front of a Blue Angels Hornet up on the flight deck
The Bridge - we got to go up inside. However, climbing up the steep ladder steps was tough!
Way up high on the ship! And that's the bridge that I referred to in this post.

Our little criminals
Battle of the Philippine Sea - there were lots of maps and stuff of the Philippines!
Captain's Quarters when they weren't at sea.He entertained many politicians and celebrities in these Quarters! He even had his own kitchen!
There was a barber shop, a dentist, a post office, a doctor's office, the surgery room shown above, a cafeteria, a church shown below, and many other things that you just would not think about on the ship. I mean, this ship was at sea for months and months at a time and the seamen had to have their hair cut and their teeth cleaned! It's just crazy to think about, though, when you think about a battleship. We didn't get a picture of them, but the living quarters were crazy! The beds were tiny and sometimes stacked three high, one floor level, then a middle one, and then an upper one. And all the closets and drawers. My, it was a sight!
It was a great visit back through history. I really wish we could've spent more time reading through a lot of it and looking at all the artifacts. And Dad, I'd love to walk through it with you. You'd be blown away at the history. You, too, Mom. Amazing!
