I Survived!

Body Combat training was great! It was tough and I was exhausted and sore, but I learned SO much. It certainly was a journey for me. I was excited the first day, overwhelmed and thinking I cannot do this the second day, and excited and nervous the second day. If you have never been in a Les Mills class such as Body Combat or Body Pump, a new release comes out every quarter. Each release cd has 10 songs on it. The first day of training, we were each given a track on the cd. I had track 5 on the cd. The song was "You Can't Stop the Beat" from the movie Hairspray with John Travolta. It doesn't really sound like a "kickboxing" song just because of the peppy-ness. It was an upperbody track, so it was all punches and jabs. Anyway. I had to learn the song, the choreography, and all the coaching cues. I had to "present" the track once on Saturday, and then twice on Sunday. From that presentation, the trainer gave me a pass, pass withheld, or a re-sit. Well, I am proud to say that I got a PASS!!! I was very surprised just because I have NEVER taught any sort of aerobics or exercise class. So the pass means that I can teach the class alone. Aaah! That kind of scares me. I'm a little stressed out now though because I have to learn ALL the other tracks just like I know my track5 that I presented. So I've got a lot of work ahead of me!

I am also going to Body Pump training the last weekend in June in Carrollton, TX. It is another 3 day training. However, I have been doing Body Pump for years, so I think it might be easier just because I know what goes on in a training now and I know the program and the moves for Body Pump. I know that I will be sore just because it's a lot of weightlifting all weekend. And I've heard the challenge for Body Pump is really hard! The challenge for Body Combat was not that hard. Shaunna, our trainer, was not into killing us, thank the Lord! She was a great trainer! Really positive and helpful.

Monday, my mom, the kids, and I traveled to visit my sister Emily. Her husband is the new Game Warden. I hadn't seen her house yet and so it's been fun. We are leaving today to drive to Ft. Stockton to visit my grandparents and then home tomorrow.

The girl starts swimming lessons next week. She will do two weeks at Central High School and then two weeks at the YMCA. She is excited about it. And she is doing so good on her bike without training wheels. I am so proud of her.

The boy...he's just the funniest thing. I have been wanting to potty train him for a while now. He turns 3 in September, so I think it's about time. However, he really is not interested. And I've heard that the more the push it before they are ready, the harder and longer the process will be. He wears underwear some mornings, and I take him to the potty every 15 minutes and he will go every 15 minutes. He hasn't learned to hold it for a period of time and know the feeling of needing to go and holding it until he gets to a potty. Anyway, on the way down here to visit my sister, we stopped at my grandparent's house. The girl came in and told me that the boy had gone poo poo in his diaper. So I just started staring at the boy and giving him this look. I'm just getting tired of changing diapers. Then while I'm staring him down, he's looking at me saying, "It's okay, Mama, it's okay." I said, "No, it's not okay." And he replied, "But I want it to be okay!" Isn't that the funniest thing.

Then yesterday, we were getting the car and he was picking his nose. I told him to stop picking his nose, but by then he had a booger right on the inside of his nose. So I got it with my finger (I know, it's disgusting, but you just learn to do these things as a mommy, don't judge me) and he said, "Why you pick my nose?" My mom and I just about died laughing. It was hilarious!

Okay, enough gross stories, but what he says about it is just plain funny so I had to share. I forgot my camera this week, so there are no pictures to share. Sorry.
