One Way

My heart has been so heavy these past few days. First of all, there is a lot going on in our town right now. All of the women and children who have been pulled out of the polygamist FLDS compound in Eldorado, TX are now in my home town. You can read more about it here or here. The whole situation is very sad. Like Amanda said it her blog post, they are sheep without a Shepherd. My heart is so broken for these families. Their lives are a wreck. After interviews yesterday, a lot of the children didn't know their last name and could not identify your biological parents. The families are so mixed and messed up because of the polygamy. I cannot imagine the amount of bondage that they are in; and they probably don't even recognize it because it has been their life. It's all they know. It's all their mothers and grandmothers knew. They don't know what freedom is...freedom and rights as a human, and freedom in Christ. God bless them. They need a Savior. They need to know the Way.

Secondly, I have known that Oprah was into all the New Age false teachings. But what is so sad is that she is taking millions with her because of who she is and her fame. If you have not watched the video below, I encourage you to watch it and see what I'm talking about. After I watched this video, I turned on the TV one afternoon and Oprah's show was on. I had to change the channel. Just watching her made my stomach turn. In the video, Oprah said that one of the mistakes people make is believing that there is only one way to live. She says that people don't accept that there are diverse ways of being in the world and there are may paths to what you call God. She believes that the Man on the cross is an archetypal image; He is every man and every woman. She believes that God is a feeling experience, not a believing experience. And this woman grew up in the Baptist church! Fellow believers, it is time to turn off the TV and pray. It is so scary that people in the entertainment industry like Oprah can have so much power to influence relgion.

This video freaked me out and made me absolutely sick to my stomach! I hate that so many are being completely brainwashed by her "teaching"! You are so right... We MUST pray!

I came here form Kelly's Korner and just had to say "Amen" to your thought sregarding Oprah. I had the same sickening feeling listening to her, and am saddened at the thought of her impact on so many lives.
I will no longer support any of her endeavors, from her magazine to even viewing her show "Give Big".

OMG! I can't believe that video. I haven't watched Oprah in a long time, but I hate the influence she's having on so many non-believers. I love the header you made for your blog! We've got to get together for some blog tutorials!

Hi, my name is Angela and I found your blog through Kelly's Korner.

I, too, am sickened by Oprah's teachings. It has gone way beyond her just being entertainment to being her helping people "reconcile Biblical teaching" with her own views. Give me a break! I just can't handle her right now. I have always been a fan of her show but I am beginning to think that I don't need to watch it anymore. The sad thing is that there are so many more "followers" of hers that don't know when to stop listening.

lately by what she is trying to teach people!!

I agree with your post that HE is the only way!!!

p.s. We are moving to Texas in the next two months!

I am really concerned about this same issue right now, too. I have been thinking about it for a while. There are many other things going on in our world that have me concerned but this is huge. She is very well known and taking so many followers with her. I just found out that my mom is reading that book by Eckhardt Toille. I couldn't believe it. She loves Oprah and started reading his book b/c it was on Oprah's Book Club reading list. I warned her to be careful about what she is reading......we all need to PRAY!!!

Yuck, yuck, yuck!! And it will only get worse. That sweet girl she was talking to was indeed lost and seeking counsel. I just pray truth would come her way. What a HUGE JOB we have of fishing for men and making disciples. Whoa! The scripture of "always be ready to give a defense for the hope you have" rings so true. We have to be ready and purposeful in Kingdom work. Yeah for you Ash!

Ashley - thank you for this! I have always enjoyed Oprah every now and then (not a consistent watcher but loved her shows like "Oprah's Favorite Things" etc). My dad always joked/talked about her New Age beliefs but I didn't realize how much truth there was in what he was saying until now! It really is scary to think how many people are following down the paths she is teaching. Love you Ashley! PS When are all us cousins gonna get together?? - Blair
