God and Johnny Appleseed

Tonight, during our family Bible story, we read about when God created the Earth. At the end of the story, there was a question asking what lived on the Earth before the first day. Both of the kids said nothing. Then the girl goes, "Only God. And Johnny Appleseed." Ha! Jim and I both cracked up! It was hilarious! I guess she's learing about Johnny Appleseed at school! It was funny.

Now, on to a serious note, I have a prayer request. Would you please pray for my friend Elizabeth? She is undergoing her 3rd surgery this month tomorrow due to complications from the first one. She's also had several procedures done, including a feeding tube put in directly to her stomach because she cannot eat from her surgery she had done. She had what's called fundoplication surgery for gastroesophageal reflux disease where they wrap the upper part of the stomach around the esophagus to try to decrease reflux. However, in her case, it has closed up and she cannot even swallow her saliva, hence the feeding tube. Tomorrow they are going to undo everything. There is a risk of the esophagus tearing, but she is trusting God that He will protect her esophagus and things will go as planned and no complications. The Lord has strengthened her in this time and she has been a witness to the people in the hospital (she's a OBGYN here). Please, please pray for her. I know she would really appreciate it. And if you would like, please leave a comment for her and I'll print them off and take them to her before her surgery. She would be so encouraged. Would you? Even if you don't know her? Thank you.

Elizabeth....Ash has kept me updated through all of your "ordeal"! Just want you to know that I've been praying for you and I'll be praying especially during your surgery tomorrow...particularly that your esophagus will be fine with no tears. I know you are ready to feel normal again! It is sometimes difficult to understand why God allows us to go through tough times like this...but you can be sure that He is holding you close!
Praying for you,
Kristi

"All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us." 2Corinthians 1:3-4 (The Message)

Elizabeth-
I will be praying for His healing hand to touch you before, during, and after your surgery. God had this all in His perfect plan, and you choosing to praise Him during this trial is an encouragement to all of us who hear about it!
In Prayer-
Stephanie

Elizabeth,

I want you to know that I am praying for you. I am asking the Lord to protect your esophagus during the surgery and that there will be no more complications. I pray that you and your family find comfort in Lord during the next few weeks as you recover. Psalm 119:76 - "May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant." I pray that your recovery will be quick with no complications.

Elizabeth,
Wes & I have been praying for you! Fernando has been giving Wes updates and you certainly have been through a lot these past few weeks. I know that God has a plan and He is going to use this experience to His glory. What an incredible testimony you will have to share with your patients when you are healthy and well after all of this. I pray that the surgery goes well today and that you are feeling normal very soon!
Lots of Love!

I am praying right this moment (and will continue to pray) for Elizabeth. I am so sorry for these "trials" she is going through. God wastes not one moment of it. He will use everything for His glory. I pray for her continued strenghtening -- spiritually and physically. AND that she continues to spread "the fragrance of Christ" to everyone she meets.

Although I am her grandmother I can tell you she is a woman dedicated to God and is a prayer warrior unlike most girls her age. God is in control of all that is happening so you can rest assurd He knows your pain and anxieties and He loves you. I will be praying and watching for updates. Betty Herman
